  • The Tool Control Clerk is to main responsibility is to fulfill tool requests from other departments, track and stock inventories, maintain a complete inventory checklist, and assign tool repairs.
  • The individual is responsible for obtaining a working knowledge of all safety requirements involved in daily assigned tasks.
  • Individual may be assigned other tasks within his or her capabilities, but outside the Tool Room attendants' profession due to workload requirements.
  • Maintains proper documentation and maintain certificates on all tools that require periodic calibrations.
  • Will track all tools and will place purchase orders for the replacement of lost, broken, or worn-out tools.
  • Must be able to effect repairs on all hand tools or see that required repairs are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Must have a working understanding of hand tools and the proper use of each tool.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the inventory stockroom and how to get the required tools and stock in the most expeditious manner.
  • Must be very organized and can maintain a complex inventory tracking system.
  • Will inform superiors of the condition of the tools and the potential replacement of tools.
  • Must be familiar with the supplies and materials and can fulfill order requests and properly assign deductions in inventory to the proper job number from the various departments throughout the shipyard in a timely manner.
  • Accountable for the timely return of all tools and informing the Purchasing Department in the event tools are not returned as instructed.
