Machine-responsible technicians maintain, upgrade and modify assigned machine system and perform preventative and condition-based maintenance processes. MRTs communicate and coordinate with the operations group, upper management, and Engineering.

Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining hot rubber extruders, PLC logic systems and associated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment.

As a new technician, I was given responsibility for basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks, including mechanical and electrical systems.

During this two-year work study program through Midlands Technical College, I learned to use predictive tools such as ultrasonic testing to diagnose and repair pneudraulic systems, bearings and drives. I developed skills in work-order writing, and later I was tasked to train new hires on use of predictive tools.
