I began my career in education while attending college, working as a lead teacher in an infant daycare classroom where I developed a strong foundation in child development, behavior support, and relationship-building with families. After earning my degree in Special Education, I joined Mt. Zion Elementary School as a Special Education Teacher serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade. During my two years there, I provided individualized instruction, implemented behavior supports, collaborated with general education teachers and families, and supported students with diverse academic and emotional needs.
When Mt. Zion Elementary closed, I transitioned to the new school on Johns Island, where I served as the Special Education Resource Teacher for kindergarten and first grade students. In this role, I delivered targeted interventions in literacy and math, developed and implemented IEPs, monitored student progress, and worked closely with multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
Throughout my career, I have pursued extensive professional development to strengthen my instructional and behavioral support practices. I have completed LETRS training, Restorative Practices training, Wilson training, and OGAP training, and I am CPI certified. These experiences have equipped me with strong skills in literacy intervention, de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, and relationship-centered teaching.
I am excited about the opportunity to work in an alternative high school setting because I am passionate about supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, building meaningful relationships, and helping students develop the academic and life skills necessary for success.
