Provide patient care and family support in a 10 room pediatric operating room. I work closely with Surgeons, Anesthesiologist, nurses, surgical technicians, operating room assistants, and other disciplinary teams in planning care for pediatric patients. I act independently and establish priorities based on workload. On a daily basis I perform assessments, chart on a computer based hospital system, educate families, perform surgical preps, assure the operating room maintains a sterile and safe environment, communicate the patient's condition and status to family members, proper positioning of patients, and handling specimens. During the surgery I act as the patient advocate while they are under anesthesia. I perform other duties as necessary for the comfort and well being of the patient. Neuro/plastic resource nurse.

Proved care for the pediatric surgical patients ranging from elective to trauma surgery. Resource nurse for the Plastic Surgery Service. I was in charge of the entire plastic service line and responsible for the daily and future function. This position was responsible for monitoring future pediatric surgery and ordering necessary equipment & supplies for each case. Also involved in purchasing instruments and equipment needed for the service. I was also the primary preceptor for the plastic service which included new and current operating room staff. This position was a management position and was held accountable for the sucess of this service line.
