I took the position as the club was about to close due to lack of members. Although I've never participated in a club before and I was also confined to a sling, I assumed the responsibilty of president. With help from my professors and support from the Human Services department, I was able to bring our club from being unknown to being one of the most popular clubs at LAGC. I created events that highlighted social issues such as the history of AIDS and HIV, the many faces of homelessness, and bring forth a project that started a group that trained students and staff to use narcan and Epi pens. By teaming with other clubs that were already popular, it helped to bring our club in to the front. I also worked with graduate schools by having representatives of Social Service departments meet with us which ultimately started changes that would help students whose credits weren't transferable become considered.
