In this role, I was responsible for overseeing and putting into practice erosion control efforts on construction sites, ensuring that soil erosion was minimized and that the sites surroundings were protected. I led a small crew in the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of erosion control measures while following safety guidelines and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installed and repaired erosion control devices, like silt fences and straw wattles, to help eliminate runoff and protect neighboring properties from damage.
- Led a team of 1-2 workers, making sure tasks were done correctly, safely, and timely.
- Operated equipment like a Bobcat Skid Steer to prepare sites, perform grading, and make the site easier to access for further work.
- Inspected and repaired previously installed erosion control measures, to make sure they were functioning as needed.
- Followed safety protocols on the job, ensuring a safe working environment for everyone.
- Kept my supervisor up to date with my progress on jobs
Skills & Qualifications:
- Working experience with silt fences and other erosion control materials.
- Excel at operating machinery, particularly the Skid-Steer.
- Very familiar with soil erosion prevention techniques and environmental safety regulations.
- I am able to assess and monitor erosion control systems to make sure they’re working properly.
- Experience leading small teams and keeping things on track in terms of safety and efficiency.
- Strong physical stamina for outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Quick to learn and adapt to new tasks as needed.
