MAPPS Counselor with a knowledge of a health and Criminal Justice background. I conduct student assessments and prepare documentation for medicaid billing.
I have a caseload of 200 plus students every year. Each student is seen 2-3 times a month in an individual and group session.
It is our mission as a MAPPS Counselor to help students aim to graduate on time without becoming a teen parent or lose them in the education system.
MAPPS is a Medicaid Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Service. I, as the Freshman Academy Counselor help adolescents acquire the knowledge and skills to prevent HIV, other STD's and unintended pregnancies. MAPPS is a part of a health education program, which uses medically accurate assessments to enhance students making good choices and decisions. I teach 16 lessons, that include peer pressure, promote health and wellness, prevent high school risk social behavior and intervene to assist youth that are in need of or at high risk for not graduating high school. I have a caseload of over 200 students and see them twice a month during their intervention block. I prepare their case plans and assessments, while billing medicaid for reimbursement.
